| Step 1 - Download the client The following links are some of the choices of where to download the full 4GB client from (check the client installer mirrors thread for more) > > > Lineage Client < < < If you get error msg saying file is corrupt, please make sure you use WinZIP to open the installer .zip (even WinXP compressed folder extract support is ok) Once downloaded, install it (reboot after). Run the L2 client updater (icon on desktop or Linage2.exe in the install folder). Updating can be farily fast depending on your connection speed and the update server load. After this initial update, don't run the updater again unless you are told to do so. Step 2 - Grab the Patch Grab it HERE :) Unzip it into your lineage\system directory (overwrite files) Step 3 - Changing your hosts file Find the "hosts" file (often in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc) and use Notepad to add the line of text below (suggest copy and paste the line below). 203.161.118.130 l2authd.lineage2.com 203.161.118.130 l2testauthd.lineage2.com 203.161.118.130 nprotect.lineage2.com To test this, run "cmd.exe", then type "ping l2authd.lineage2.com" (without the " quotes). You should see pings to 203.161.118.130 - if for some reason you see 206.127.151.66, then have a read through the rest of this thread for a possible fix Step 4 - Create your character Good news... almost there Very Happy. In the Lineage 2 folder should be a system folder with a a file called l2.exe - use this to start Lineage 2 (I suggest you edit the L2 shortcuts to point to this file). Run l2.exe and once the game loads, you will see a login screen. Choose a username and password, then connect and the account will be made for you. After clicking past the agreement, connect to "Bartz" (main server that people play on - any others are test servers). The next screen you see is where you create your first of many characters. Read Lineage 2 Character guide for a description of each race and the gameplay choices. Once a char is made, you are ready to play L2. Read the tutorial guide that should be in your players inventory and the Lineage 2 Guides forum might be of use. Remember, ShadowLight Lineage II is an all-ages server. We do not tolerate deregatory or obscene languages, or any destructive behaviours that causes grievances to other players.
